Food for Thought at Passover

As most of you know, I have chosen to be vegetarian. This decision was not made easily by me and is a result of educating myself about factory farming methods in this country. Although I am not completely opposed to the idea of eating meat per se, I am strongly opposed to the methods through which our meat is supplied to us.

The following website describes some of the horrific processes used specifically in the Kosher Meat industry by one particular company. I realize this may not be indicative of what all meat processors do, but if even one supplier treats animals in this way I have to believe they are not the only ones.

This video is sickening in its content, so if you choose not to view it, I will understand. But I hope you take a look, and ponder how you feel after watching it. It is particularly important to the Jewish people to care humanely for the animals which give us life through their sustenance. But apparently this cruelty persists. In opposition to factory farming, I have chosen to not eat meat and reduce the profits, in my own little way, of these horrific factory farms.

Here is further info about being Jewish and Vegetarian. I hope you like it.

I am very interested in hearing your feedback. Please feel free to comment in any way. Thanks for your interest.

Hi Liz,
Good to hear from you. Better even to be able to chat. I saw the original "abuse" film, and it was disturbing. I agree, not indicative of the industry per se. However, the choice to go "veggie" or for that matter to any extreme, I also find disturbing. I guess I'm a middle of the road kind of guy - yeah meat is good, and I really believe we need some in our diet ( hey, how else did we become such a superior animal?)That alone is questionable. Sometimes we think too much of ourselves. Anyway, as a human being with such God given intelligence, and freedom of choice - you have made yours.

Love ya,
DJ Sunday
