Well, I know everyone is interested in how we are faring in our move to Georgia! It's been a real adventure so far with a few bumps in the road - as expected. But before I go any further there's a few housekeeping announcements -

The move out of Westbrook went off without a hitch. The whole house was packed up, minus what we took for temporary living. Alan, however, caught a viscious respiratory bug but, thankfully, is now on the mend. He was really sick this time around. The drive down to GA for him was grueling, but I, as always, enjoyed the road trip. We arrived here one week ago and are settling into a temporary apartment. For now, we are searching for a house rental that we would like to move into until we get our bearings. Looks like we may rent for up to a year.
The area leaves much to be desired, but there are some real positives coming out of this move. We are thankful to be closer to the kids and places that we want to explore down here. Although the immediate area is very urban, I am looking forward to getting out beyond and finding the true south (I know it's there somewhere!). Next week I have a trip planned to Charleston, which as many of you know, I love. Maxine is receiving an honor award from her Political Science department and is being inducted into the Polictical Science Honor Society. I will be on hand for this and can't wait to see her!
The following week is Passover and we are driving to Gainesville FL to spend the first night's seder with Jenn's synagogue's cantor and his family. It will be delightful to do this. They are the kindest and loveliest of people. I am grateful for their open arms at Passover.
We attended services at the synagogue in John's Creek on Friday night. What a fabulous rabbi and cantor - it was a warm and insightful service. We hope to live close enough to join this congregation. They are an exceptional group.
For now my focus is on finding a more permanent housing solution. We are not buying a house for the moment for lots of reasons and feel renting is our best option at present. I will keep you posted on this. It looks like there are a ton of rentals available, so this shouldn't prove too challenging.
Alan is settling in at work - this has been a big change for us, but we remain optimistic and very positive, believing that this will turn out to be a great change for us both. However, we do miss our friends and family so much and realize this is a great challenge in every way.
I will continue to post on my blog, but feel free to call me at any time. Love you all lots!

I liked the post mom! I can't wait to see you next week - I'm so excited!
Love,
Max
very nice blog. nice shot of hannah the horse. we just got back from skidmore and saratoga, maybe hannah could race at the track there? i would bet on her on matter how low the odds.
hope all is going well. maybe you can convince alan to let you get a horse down there. maybe we can go in the middle of the night and kidnap (i mean horsenap) hannah. then you can expand your equine legal entanglements to include transporting stolen property across state lines.
love
